Placental Alkaline Phosphatase (PLAP)는 특정 염증성 질환 과정의 조절에 중요한 역할을 합니다. 이 효소는 장, 태반, 태반 유사, 간/골/신장 형태로 존재하는 네 가지 관련 알칼리성 포스파타제 중 하나입니다. PLAP는 임신 3기 동안 태반에서 발현되는 막 결합형 아이소엔자임(Regan 및 Nagao type)과 반응합니다. 이 항체는 고환 생식세포 종양의 식별에 유용하며, PLAP 양성 체세포 종양은 상피막 항원(EMA)을 균일하게 발현합니다. PLAP의 제안된 기능은 기질 광물화이며, 이 효소가 결핍된 생쥐에서도 정상적인 골격 발달이 관찰됩니다. PLAP는 고인산혈증(hypophosphatasia)과 직접적으로 관련이 있으며, 이는 고칼슘혈증과 골격 결함을 특징으로 합니다. 해당 질환의 특성은 돌연변이 유형에 따라 발병 시기와 증상의 심각도가 달라질 수 있습니다.
