Target Information
Actin alpha 1 (ACTA1) belongs to the actin family, a group of highly conserved proteins essential for cell motility, structure, and integrity. Alpha actins are major components of the contractile apparatus in muscle tissue, while beta and gamma actins regulate cell motility. This alpha actin isoform is found in skeletal muscle. Mutations in ACTA1 are associated with various congenital myopathies, including nemaline myopathy type 3, congenital myopathy with excess thin myofilaments, congenital myopathy with cores, and congenital myopathy with fiber-type disproportion.
