Product Specific Information
The eBio3G11 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse 3G11 antigen, a sialylated carbohydrate antigen expressed by thymocytes and peripheral T cells, but not by B cells, myeloid cells, or erythrocytes.
3G11 expression is higher on CD4⁺ T cells than CD8⁺ T cells and decreases with age. It is expressed on ~20% of total thymocytes and serves as a marker to distinguish naive and memory T cells, being irreversibly down-regulated upon activation of CD4⁺ T cells.
The 3G11 antibody can block binding of antibodies to CD3 epsilon, suggesting close proximity of these two proteins. Loss of 3G11 expression in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) correlates with an anergic, regulatory T phenotype. Purified 3G11⁻ T cells suppress proliferation and cytokine production of 3G11⁺ T cells, partly via IL-10 secretion.
eFluor® 660 is a replacement for Alexa Fluor® 647. It emits at 659 nm and is excited by the red laser (633 nm).

Target Information
The 3G11 sialoganglioside antigen is expressed by thymocytes and peripheral T cells, but not by B cells, myeloid cells, or erythrocytes. Expression is higher on CD4⁺ T cells than CD8⁺ T cells and decreases with age. In the thymus, 3G11 is found on approximately 20% of total thymocytes. It serves as a marker for naive versus memory T cells and is down-regulated upon activation.
Loss of 3G11 expression in EAE is linked to an anergic, regulatory T phenotype. 3G11⁻ T cells suppress proliferation and cytokine production of 3G11⁺ T cells through IL-10 secretion.
