Neuron navigator 3 (NAV3) is a 2,385 amino acid protein localized to the nuclear outer membrane and involved in neuron regeneration. It exists as three alternatively spliced isoforms and is highly expressed in adult and fetal brain, with moderate to low expression in ovary, lung, testis, placenta, and heart. NAV3 is implicated in IL-2 production regulation and contains one calponin-homology (CH) domain, three N-terminal hydrophobic domains, multiple N-glycosylation sites, three ATP/GTP-binding A motifs (P loops), and several phosphorylation sites.
