Target Information
Tight junctions are a key component of cell-to-cell adhesion in epithelial and endothelial cell layers, forming continuous seals that prevent solutes and water from freely passing through the paracellular space. The JAM2 protein, a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily, localizes to tight junctions between high endothelial cells. It functions as an adhesive ligand for various immune cell types and may contribute to lymphocyte homing to secondary lymphoid organs.
