A protein-protein BLAST analysis suggests cross-reactivity with most SPANX proteins from human, gorilla, and chimpanzee.
Reactivity against other homologues is not known.
Target Information
Temporally regulated transcription and translation of several testis-specific genes are required for the formation of mature spermatozoa.
This gene is part of the SPANX family located on chromosome X and encodes testis-specific proteins that localize to various subcellular compartments.
The SPANX-C protein localizes to the nucleus and is expressed in highly metastatic cell lines, making it a potential diagnostic and prognostic marker.
As a member of the cancer/testis antigen family, it represents a potential target for cancer immunotherapy.
