Product Specific Information

This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope of CD62P (P-selectin), a 140 kDa single-chain type I transmembrane glycoprotein present in secretory alpha-granules in platelets, Weibel-Palade bodies in endothelial cells, and in megakaryocytes. It relocates to the plasma membrane upon activation.

Target Information

P-selectin (Selectin P, GMP-140, LECAM3, CD62 antigen-like family member) is a 140 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein that regulates cell rolling. It is stored in Weibel-Palade bodies of endothelial cells and in α-granules of platelets, and rapidly translocates to the cell surface upon activation by thrombin, histamine, complement 5a, Ca²⁺ ionophores, or ADP.
P-selectin mediates interactions between activated endothelial cells or platelets and leukocytes, playing a key role in adhesion processes. It binds sialylated Lewis carbohydrate antigens on neutrophils and monocytes in a calcium-dependent manner, contributing to inflammation, atherogenesis, thrombosis, and tissue destruction. Clinically, it helps distinguish heparin-induced thrombocytopenia with and without thrombosis.
