Target Information
This gene encodes an RNA-binding protein similar to the C. elegans Fox-1 gene. It acts as a key regulator of alternative exon splicing in the nervous system and other cell types. The protein binds to the conserved UGCAUG element downstream of alternatively spliced exons, promoting exon inclusion in mature transcripts. It also interacts with the estrogen receptor 1 transcription factor, modulating its transcriptional activity. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
