Target Information
Rheb encodes a member of the small GTPase superfamily and represents a lipid-anchored cell membrane protein with five repeats of the RAS-related GTP-binding region. This protein plays a critical role in regulating growth and cell cycle progression through the insulin/TOR/S6K signaling pathway. It possesses GTPase activity, cycling between GDP- and GTP-bound forms, and requires farnesylation for its function. Three pseudogenes have been mapped — two on chromosome 10 and one on chromosome 22.
