Target Information
This gene encodes one of seven subunits of the human Arp2/3 protein complex. This subunit belongs to the SOP2 family and is most similar to the ARPC1A gene product. Both may function as the p41 subunit of the Arp2/3 complex, which regulates actin polymerization in cells. The p41 subunit is likely involved in assembling and maintaining the Arp2/3 complex structure. Different versions of this subunit may allow functional adaptation across cell types or developmental stages. Additionally, this protein contributes to centrosomal homeostasis as both an activator and substrate of Aurora A kinase.
