Target Information
BRAP negatively regulates MAP kinase activation by limiting the formation of Raf/MEK complexes, probably through inactivation of the KSR1 scaffold protein. It also acts as a Ras-responsive E3 ubiquitin ligase that, upon Ras activation, undergoes auto-polyubiquitination, releasing inhibition of Raf/MEK complex formation. Additionally, it may function as a cytoplasmic retention protein involved in regulating nuclear transport.
