Description: IL-34 is secreted as a dimeric protein and currently belongs to no known cytokine family. It signals via the M-CSF Receptor, also known as CSF-1R and CD115, which is shared with M-CSF. IL-34 has no amino acid sequence homology to M-CSF, but they exhibit similarities in secondary structure and share overlapping functions. IL-34 has been shown to promote myeloid survival, proliferation, and differentiation, and to play a role in osteoclast formation. IL-34 expression has been detected in various tissues and is most abundant in the spleen.

Applications Reported: Recombinant human IL-34 is biologically active and can induce MCP-1 secretion by normal human peripheral blood cells.

Applications Tested: The activity of this protein was determined by measuring MCP-1 secretion from normal human peripheral blood cells.

Source: HEK293 cells (amino acids Asn21-Pro242; accession # NP_001166243); contains a C-terminal 8X His tag.

Bioactivity: The activity of this protein was determined by measuring MCP-1 secretion from normal human peripheral blood cells.

Endotoxin: Less than 0.1 ng/ug cytokine as determined by the LAL assay. Purity: >95% as determined by SDS-PAGE and HPLC.

Storage and handling: For best recovery, quick spin vial prior to opening. Use in sterile environment. Reconstitute in water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL. Do not vortex. Store lyophilized protein at less than or equal to -20°C. Reconstituted protein solution can be stored with carrier protein (e.g., 0.1% BSA) at less than or equal to -20°C.
