Target Information
The NSDHL protein is localized in the endoplasmic reticulum and involved in cholesterol biosynthesis. Mutations in the NSDHL gene are associated with CHILD syndrome, an X-linked dominant disorder of lipid metabolism that disrupts cholesterol biosynthesis and is typically lethal in males. Alternatively spliced transcript variants with differing 5′ UTR have been identified.
