Target Information

CD26 (dipeptidyl peptidase IV, DPP IV, adenosine deaminase (ADA) binding protein) is a homodimeric atypical serine protease belonging to the prolyl oligopeptidase family.
It is expressed on lymphocytes and upregulated during T-cell activation, also found on activated B cells, natural killer cells, and epithelial tissues.
CD26 participates in diverse biological processes such as T-cell activation, cell adhesion to extracellular matrix components (fibronectin, collagens), and HIV infection.
It is identical to adenosine deaminase complexing protein-2 and T-cell activation antigen CD26.
This intrinsic membrane glycoprotein acts as a serine exopeptidase, cleaving X-proline dipeptides from polypeptide N-termini.
Altered CD26 activity is associated with malignant transformation, with enzymatic activity increasing with tumor grade and severity.
Expression changes have been reported in circulating monocytes and CD4+ T cells during rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus.
