RNA polymerase II는 mRNA 및 다양한 비암호화 RNA의 합성을 담당하는 효소입니다.
POLR2A 유전자는 RNA polymerase II의 가장 큰 서브유닛인 RPB1을 암호화합니다.
RPB1의 C-terminal domain (CTD)은 YSPTSPS라는 반복 서열을 포함하며, 이 서열 내의 Serine-2 및 Serine-5 잔기의 인산화는 전사 조절 인자 및 RNA 처리 인자의 결합을 조절합니다.
CTD의 인산화 패턴은 전사 주기의 진행과 RNA 처리 복합체의 조립에 중요한 역할을 합니다.
