Target Information
Matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family 단백질은 세포외 기질의 분해에 관여하며, 발생, 생식, 조직 재형성 등의 생리적 과정뿐 아니라 관절염, 전이 등 병리적 과정에서도 중요한 역할을 합니다. 대부분의 MMP는 비활성 전구체 형태로 분비되며, 세포외 단백질분해효소에 의해 절단되어 활성화됩니다. 본 유전자가 암호화하는 단백질은 membrane-type MMP (MT-MMP) 아형에 속하지만, 다른 MT-MMP와 달리 GPI-anchored 단백질로 존재하는 것이 특징입니다. 이 단백질은 MMP-2를 절단하여 활성화합니다.
