This antibody detects endogenous levels of total PTPMT1 protein.
Target Information
PTPMT1 is a lipid phosphatase that dephosphorylates phosphatidylglycerophosphate (PGP) to phosphatidylglycerol (PG), an essential intermediate in cardiolipin biosynthesis. Cardiolipin is a mitochondrial-specific phospholipid critical for maintaining membrane integrity and organelle function.
PTPMT1 also exhibits phosphatase activity toward phosphoprotein substrates, particularly mitochondrial proteins, and plays an essential role in ATP production. It has a preference for dephosphorylating Ser/Thr residues over Tyr residues and may be involved in regulating insulin secretion in pancreatic beta cells.
