Product Specific Information
This antibody is predicted to react with bovine, Drosophila, mouse, rat, and Xenopus based on sequence homology.
On a non-reducing gel, intact IgG appears as a ~150 kDa band and upon reduction generates a ~25 kDa light chain band and a ~50 kDa heavy chain.
Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. Antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits are cloned and screened to select optimal candidates for production.
Advantages of recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies:
- Improved specificity and sensitivity
- Lot-to-lot consistency
- Animal origin-free formulation
- Broader immunoreactivity due to the rabbit immune repertoire
Target Information
SMAD2 (MADH2, MAD2) regulates multiple cellular processes such as proliferation, apoptosis, and differentiation.
It interacts with TGF-beta receptors via SMAD anchor for receptor activation, a key event in TGF-beta signaling.
Phosphorylation of threonine 8 by ERK1 enhances SMAD2 transcriptional activity, which is negatively regulated by calmodulin.
Upon TGF-beta signaling, SMAD2 is phosphorylated, dissociates from SARA, and associates with SMAD4 for nuclear translocation and transcriptional regulation.
SMAD2 can also be phosphorylated by activin type 1 receptor kinase, mediating activin signaling.
Alternative splicing variants encoding SMAD2 have been observed.
