Glucocorticoid Receptor (NR3C1)는 글루코코르티코이드의 수용체로, 전사 인자(transcription factor) 및 다른 전사 인자의 조절자로 작용합니다. 이 수용체는 열충격 단백질 및 면역필린과 함께 복합체 형태로 세포질에 존재하며, 리간드 결합 시 핵으로 이동합니다. 심장 조직(좌우 심방, 좌우 심실, 대동맥, 심첨부, 중격, 방실결절 등)에서 발현이 확인되었습니다. 다양한 프로모터와 스플라이싱, 번역 개시 부위로 인해 여러 전사 변이체가 존재합니다.
Glucocorticoid Receptor 유전자 변이는 글루코코르티코이드 저항성(코르티솔 저항성)을 유발할 수 있으며, 활성화에는 샤페론 단백질 복합체가 필요합니다. GR은 덱사메타손(dexamethasone) 등 스테로이드와 나노몰 농도 수준의 친화도로 결합합니다.
