Target Information

Isotype control antibodies are used to assess background staining in immunoassays. Background noise from primary antibodies can result from Fc receptor binding, non-specific interactions, or autofluorescence.
Isotype controls serve as negative controls to distinguish specific antibody binding from non-specific signals.
They are most commonly used in flow cytometry but are also applicable in ChIP, immunohistochemistry, and gel shift assays.
The control should match the species and isotype of the primary antibody and, when applicable, the conjugate label.
