This antibody detects endogenous levels of CDK1/CDC2 only when phosphorylated at Thr161.
Target Information
CDK1 (Cell Division Control protein 1) is essential for the completion of START, a key event in the cell cycle required to initiate mitosis. It serves as the catalytic subunit of the M-Phase Promoting Factor (MPF), a universal eukaryotic kinase complex that induces entry into mitosis.
Phosphorylation of Bcl-2 in G2/M phase-arrested cells following photodynamic therapy with hypericin involves a CDK1-mediated signal and delays apoptosis onset. The therapeutic potential of the CDK inhibitor NU2058 has also been demonstrated in androgen-independent prostate cancer.
