1 µg/mL of MA5-27595 was sufficient for detection of Dicer in 20 µg of rat brain lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody. Detects approximately 215 kDa.
This antibody was formerly sold as clone S167-7.
Target Information
Dicer is a double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) endoribonuclease that plays a central role in short dsRNA-mediated post-transcriptional gene silencing. It cleaves long dsRNAs and short hairpin pre-microRNAs (miRNA) into 21–23 nucleotide fragments with 3′ overhangs, producing siRNAs and mature miRNAs. These small RNAs guide the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) to complementary RNAs, leading to degradation or translational repression.
RNA interference via siRNAs helps eliminate transcripts from repetitive DNA elements and viral RNAs, while the miRNA pathway regulates specific gene expression.
