Target Information
PIM2 is a proto-oncogene encoding a serine/threonine kinase that phosphorylates BAD, partially inhibiting its apoptotic function. PIM proteins (PIM-1, PIM-2, and PIM-3) share similar oncogenic properties. PIM-2 is predominantly expressed in hematopoietic tissues, spleen, thymus, peripheral blood leukocytes, testis, small intestine, and colon. Its expression decreases with growth factor depletion, and elevated levels have been observed in certain cancers.
