Target Information
RYK is an atypical member of the receptor protein tyrosine kinase family, differing from other members in conserved residues within the activation and nucleotide binding domains. Members of this subfamily are not regulated by phosphorylation in the activation segment. Biological activity may be mediated by recruitment of a signaling-competent auxiliary protein through an uncharacterized mechanism. A nine-nucleotide insertion in some transcripts produces the SLG variant, though it is unclear whether this results from alternative splicing or a second gene, as evidence for a pseudogene on chromosome 17 exists.
