This antibody detects endogenous levels of total Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO).
Target Information
Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO) is a membrane-bound glycoprotein enzyme essential for thyroid hormone biosynthesis. It catalyzes the iodination of tyrosine residues in thyroglobulin and the coupling of iodotyrosines to form thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3).
Mutations in the TPO gene can lead to disorders such as congenital hypothyroidism, congenital goiter, and thyroid hormone organification defect IIA. Multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
