Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is similar to yeast Sec31 protein. Yeast Sec31 protein is a component of the COPII complex responsible for vesicle budding from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). This protein colocalizes with SEC13 in subcellular structures associated with vesicle transport. Immunodepletion experiments confirmed its requirement for ER–Golgi transport. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
