Target Information
CELSR3 is a member of the flamingo subfamily, part of the cadherin superfamily. The flamingo subfamily consists of nonclassic-type cadherins that do not interact with catenins. These cadherins are located at the plasma membrane and contain nine cadherin domains, seven epidermal growth factor-like repeats, and two laminin A G-type repeats in their ectodomain. They also possess seven transmembrane domains, a unique feature of this subfamily. CELSR3 proteins are thought to act as receptors involved in contact-mediated communication, with cadherin domains enabling homophilic binding and EGF-like domains mediating cell adhesion and receptor-ligand interactions. The precise function of CELSR3 remains undetermined.
