Product Specific Information

The UCHT2 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD5, a 67 kDa protein expressed by most thymocytes, mature T cells, and a subset of B cells. CD5 signaling activates T cells and mediates T-B interaction via CD72 on B cells, playing a key role in proliferation. The UCHT2 clone also recognizes primate CD5.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Pre-titrated for flow cytometry using normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended use: 5 µL (0.5 µg) per test (100 µL final volume, 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).

Light Sensitivity: This tandem dye is sensitive to photo-induced oxidation. Protect vial and stained samples from light.

Fixation: Samples may be stored in IC Fixation Buffer (Product #00-8222-49) or 1-step Fix/Lyse Solution (Product #00-5333-54) for up to 3 days at 4°C in the dark with minimal impact on brightness and FRET efficiency. Clone-specific performance should be confirmed empirically.

Target Information

CD5 is a 67 kDa single-chain transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on all mature T-lymphocytes, most thymocytes, and many T-cell leukemias and lymphomas. It also reacts with a subpopulation of activated B-cells and may regulate T-cell proliferation. CD5 is found on 95% of thymocytes and 72% of peripheral blood lymphocytes, mainly in T cell areas of lymph nodes. CD5 expression is associated with thymus cancer and Richter’s Syndrome.
