Product Specific Information

Description:
The 53-7.3 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD5, a 67 kDa protein expressed by most thymocytes, mature T cells, and a subset of B cells. CD5 expression on a small subset of B cells defines B-1 cells, a distinct lineage in development and function. CD5 acts as a counter-receptor for CD72 and plays a role in T-B cell interaction.

Applications Reported:
Used for flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of mouse splenocytes. Recommended ≤ 0.25 µg/test (100 µL final volume). Cell number may vary (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test). Antibody should be titrated for optimal performance.

Light Sensitivity:
PE-Cyanine7 tandem dye is sensitive to photo-induced oxidation. Protect vial and stained samples from light.

Target Information

CD5 is a 67 kDa human T-lymphocyte single-chain transmembrane glycoprotein. It is expressed on all mature T cells, most thymocytes, and many T-cell leukemias and lymphomas. CD5 also reacts with a subset of activated B cells and may regulate T-cell proliferation. It is found on 95% of thymocytes and 72% of peripheral lymphocytes, mainly in T-cell areas of lymph nodes. CD5 dysfunction is associated with thymus cancer and Richter’s Syndrome.
