Target Information
Members of the Frizzled family encode seven-transmembrane domain proteins that are receptors for Wingless-type MMTV integration site family signaling proteins. Most Frizzled receptors are coupled to the beta-catenin canonical signaling pathway.
Frizzled 8 is highly expressed in certain human cancer cell lines, suggesting a potential role in tumorigenesis. Expression has been reported in brain, heart, kidney, pancreas, and skeletal muscle. ESTs have been isolated from various tissue and tumor libraries. The crystal structure of the extracellular cysteine-rich domain of a similar mouse protein has been determined.
