The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum using epitope-specific immunogen. Purity is >95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Target Information
This gene encodes the peroxisomal enzyme D-amino acid oxidase (DAO). The enzyme is a flavoprotein utilizing flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD) as a prosthetic group. It oxidizes various D-amino acids but is inactive on L-amino acids. DAO may function as a detoxifying enzyme that removes D-amino acids accumulated during aging. In mice, it degrades D-serine, a co-agonist of the NMDA receptor, and may be involved in the pathophysiology of schizophrenia.
