Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Target Information
Plasma prekallikrein is a glycoprotein involved in blood coagulation, fibrinolysis, kinin generation, and inflammation. It is synthesized in the liver and secreted into the blood as a single polypeptide chain. Activation by factor XIIa converts it to plasma kallikrein, composed of a heavy and a light chain linked by a disulfide bond.
- The heavy chain contains four tandem apple domains, essential for surface-dependent pro-coagulant activity.
- The light chain harbors the catalytic domain homologous to the trypsin family of serine proteases.
- Deficiency in plasma prekallikrein leads to prolonged activated partial thromboplastin time.
