This antibody detects endogenous levels of alpha 1 Catenin only when phosphorylated at Ser655/Thr658.
Target Information
Catenin alpha-1 associates with the cytoplasmic domain of various cadherins. The catenin–cadherin complex links to the actin filament network, which is crucial for cadherin-mediated cell adhesion. It can associate with both E- and N-cadherins. Initially thought to be a stable component of adhesion complexes, CTNNA1 was later found not to bind F-actin when part of the complex, suggesting a distinct linkage mechanism. The homodimeric form may regulate actin filament assembly and inhibit branching by competing with the Arp2/3 complex. Plays an essential role in cell differentiation.
