Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous levels of LATS2 only when phosphorylated at Ser872.

Target Information

LATS2 is a serine/threonine protein kinase belonging to the LATS tumor suppressor family. It interacts with a negative regulator of p53 and functions in a positive feedback loop with p53 that responds to cytoskeletal damage, leading to centrosome and mitotic apparatus dysfunction. LATS2 plays a crucial role in maintaining mitotic fidelity and genomic integrity. It regulates organ size and tumor suppression by restricting proliferation and promoting apoptosis. The pathway involves a kinase cascade where STK3/MST2 and STK4/MST1, with SAV1, phosphorylate and activate LATS1/2 with MOB1, which then phosphorylates and inactivates YAP1 and WWTR1/TAZ. Phosphorylation of YAP1 by LATS2 prevents its nuclear translocation, thereby regulating genes involved in cell proliferation, death, and migration. LATS2 also negatively regulates the G1/S transition by down-regulating cyclin E/CDK2 kinase activity.
