Target Information
Replication factor C (RFC) is an essential DNA polymerase accessory protein required for DNA replication, repair, and telomere metabolism. RFC forms a heteropentameric complex that recognizes primer-template junctions and loads proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) onto DNA in an ATP-dependent manner. All five RFC subunits share related sequences (RFC boxes) including nucleotide-binding motifs. RFC1, RFC2, RFC3, and RFC4 contain consensus ATP-binding motifs. The smaller RFC proteins (RFC2–RFC5) interact with Rad24, whereas RFC1 does not. RFC2 exhibits ATP binding critical for DNA replication and checkpoint function.
