Mouse anti-Pig wCD8 alpha antibody, clone MIL12 recognizes an epitope on the alpha chain of porcine wCD8.
Target Information
Cluster of differentiation 8 (CD8) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin family that plays an essential role in signal transduction, T cell differentiation, and activation.
CD8 is mainly expressed on T cells as a disulfide-linked heterodimer of CD8α and CD8β, functioning as a co-receptor for MHC class I molecules.
It also exists as a CD8α homodimer on subsets of T cells, NK cells, monocytes, and dendritic cells.
Engagement of MHC-I/peptide complexes by CD8 triggers recruitment of Lck kinase, leading to cytokine production, motility, and cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) activation.
Activated CTLs are crucial for pathogen and tumor cell clearance. Differentiation of naive CD8+ T cells into CTLs is enhanced by IL-2, IL-12, and TGF-β1.
