Mouse anti-Pig wCD8 alpha antibody, clone MIL12 recognizes an epitope on the alpha chain of porcine wCD8.
Target Information
Cluster of differentiation 8 (CD8) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin family. It plays a key role in signal transduction, T cell differentiation, and activation. CD8 is mainly expressed on T cells as a disulfide-linked heterodimer of CD8α and CD8β, functioning as a co-receptor with T cell receptor (TCR) for MHC class I molecules. CD8α is also found on subsets of T cells, NK cells, monocytes, and dendritic cells as homodimers. Engagement of MHC-I/peptide complexes on antigen-presenting cells triggers Lck recruitment, leading to lymphokine production and cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) activation. Activated CTLs are essential for pathogen and tumor cell clearance. Differentiation of naive CD8+ T cells into CTLs is enhanced by IL-2, IL-12, and TGF-β1.
