Target Information

The CDC27 protein shares strong similarity with Saccharomyces cerevisiae Cdc27 and Schizosaccharomyces pombe nuc2. It is a component of the anaphase-promoting complex (APC), composed of eight conserved subunits in eukaryotic cells. APC catalyzes the formation of cyclin B–ubiquitin conjugates, mediating proteolysis of B-type cyclins. CDC27 and three other APC members contain the TPR (tetratricopeptide repeat) domain, which facilitates protein-protein interactions. The protein interacts with mitotic checkpoint proteins such as Mad2, p55CDC, and BUBR1, potentially regulating mitosis timing. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
