Target Information
Caspase-1 (CASP1) is a thiol protease that cleaves IL-1 beta between Asp and Ala, leading to the release of mature cytokine involved in inflammatory processes. CASP1 plays a key role in pathogen defense, activates sterol regulatory element binding proteins (SREBPs), and promotes apoptosis. Upon inflammasome activation during DNA virus infection, CASP1 controls antiviral immunity through cleavage of CGAS, rendering it inactive.
