Target Information
CACNA1D, also known as PASNA, SANDD, or CaV1.3, encodes the alpha-1D subunit of voltage-dependent calcium channels. These channels mediate calcium ion entry into excitable cells and are involved in processes such as muscle contraction, hormone and neurotransmitter release, and gene expression. The alpha-1 subunit forms the channel pore, while beta, alpha-2/delta, and gamma subunits regulate channel activity. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
