Target Information
Melanoma-associated antigen (MAGE) family proteins are silent in normal tissues except for male germ cells and placenta. These antigens are tumor-specific and expressed in various tumor cell types, making them valuable for antitumor immunotherapy research. MAGE genes encode tumor antigens recognized by cytolytic T lymphocytes in human melanoma. Although the exact function of MAGE proteins is unknown, they may play roles in embryonic development, tumor transformation, and progression.
