Target Information
CD151 is a member of the transmembrane 4 superfamily (tetraspanin family). These cell-surface proteins contain four hydrophobic domains and mediate signal transduction events involved in cell development, activation, growth, and motility.
CD151 forms complexes with integrins and other tetraspanins, influencing cell adhesion, integrin trafficking, and function. It enhances cell motility, invasion, and metastasis in cancer cells. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been described.
