SMAD 단백질은 MAD-related 계열의 분자로, transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) 수용체 신호전달 경로의 필수적인 구성 요소입니다.
SMADs는 다음과 같이 분류됩니다:
- Receptor-regulated SMADs (R-SMADs): SMAD1, SMAD2, SMAD5, SMAD8, SMAD9
- Common-mediator SMAD (co-SMAD): SMAD4
- Inhibitory SMADs (I-SMADs): SMAD6, SMAD7
