Product Specific Information

This peptide corresponds to 18 amino acids near the amino terminus of mouse Bst2.
PEP-0658 can be used as a blocking peptide with polyclonal antibody PA5-20538.

Target Information

BST2 (CD317, HM1.24 antigen, DAMP-2, tetherin) is an integral membrane protein involved in the development and growth of B-cells. The surface expression of BST2 on fibroblast cell lines facilitates the stromal cell-dependent growth of DW34, a pre-B-cell line.
BST2 is highly expressed during B-cell development, from pro-B precursors to plasma cells, T-cells, monocytes, NK cells, DCs, and myeloma cells.
Studies show BST2 functions as an inhibitor of retrovirus release from human cells, counteracted by the HIV-1 accessory protein Vpu. BST2-mediated virion retention or endocytosis can be abolished by depletion, suggesting a potential therapeutic target for HIV/AIDS.
BST2 dysfunction is also associated with stomatitis.
