This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).
This antibody has specificity for Enterohemorrhagic E. coli (EHEC) stx2B / Shiga toxin II subunit B.

Target Information

Shiga-like toxin (verotoxin) is a toxin produced by some strains of Escherichia coli. It is similar to the AB5-type Shiga toxin produced by Shigella dysenteriae. There are two known types, SLT1 and SLT2, and the toxin is associated with hemolytic-uremic syndrome.
The toxin requires specific receptors on cell surfaces to attach and enter cells. Species such as cattle, swine, and deer lacking these receptors can carry toxigenic bacteria asymptomatically, shedding them into the environment and potentially transmitting them to humans.
Shiga-like toxin 2 subunit B (SLT2B) is non-toxic and functions as the receptor-binding region. Upon binding, SLT2B forms a pentamer. This subunit is useful for vaccine development, antibody testing, and functional studies.
