Target Information

이 단백질은 interleukin 6 (IL6), ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF), leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF), oncostatin M (OSM) 등 여러 사이토카인의 공통 신호 전달 인자로 작용합니다.
사이토카인이 수용체에 결합할 때 활성화되며, Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus에서 유래한 vIL6는 IL6R을 거치지 않고 직접 이 단백질을 활성화할 수 있습니다.
마우스 knockout 연구에서 이 유전자가 근세포(apoptosis) 조절에 중요한 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났습니다.
다양한 스플라이싱 변이로 인해 서로 다른 아이소폼을 생성할 수 있습니다.
