This antibody has specificity for Human STAT6.
Target Information
STAT6 is a transcription factor activated by cytokines, particularly interleukin-4 (IL-4) and IL-13. STAT6-deficient (Stat6-/-) models show impaired IL-4-mediated functions such as Th2 differentiation, expression of cell surface markers, T-cell proliferation, immunoglobulin class switching to IgE, and partial loss of IL-4-mediated proliferation.
STAT6 mRNA is expressed in various tissues including peripheral blood lymphocytes, colon, intestine, ovary, prostate, thymus, spleen, kidney, liver, lung, and placenta.
STAT6 is essential for Th2 immune responses and IL-4-mediated biological activities, existing in two isoforms: STAT6a and STAT6c.
