Cytochrome p450 2D6 (CYP2D6)는 cytochrome P450 초가족에 속하는 효소로, 약물 대사 및 콜레스테롤, 스테로이드, 기타 지질 합성에 관여하는 monooxygenase입니다. 이 단백질은 소포체에 위치하며, 처방약의 약 20%를 대사합니다. 주요 기질에는 debrisoquine, sparteine, propafenone, amitryptiline 등이 포함됩니다.
CYP2D6 유전자는 사람 개체군에서 다형성이 높으며, 특정 대립유전자는 효소의 기질 대사 능력이 낮은 ‘poor metabolizer’ 표현형을 유발할 수 있습니다. 이 유전자는 염색체 22q13.1에 위치하며, 두 개의 pseudogene과 인접해 있습니다. 또한 다양한 형태의 대체 스플라이싱 전사체가 보고되어 있습니다.
