Target Information

The c-Myc protein is a 62 kDa transcription factor encoded by the c-Myc gene on human chromosome 8q24. It is commonly activated in various tumor cells and plays critical roles in:

• Cellular proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, and cell cycle progression
• Phosphorylation at Thr58/Ser62 by GSK3, CDK, ERK2, and JNK
• Vasculogenesis and angiogenesis during tumor development

Amplification or translocation of the c-Myc gene is implicated in multiple human cancers, including lung, breast, colon carcinomas, and Burkitt’s lymphoma.
Antibodies recognizing c-Myc epitopes can detect overexpressed proteins with Myc tags fused to targeted proteins.
