Product Specific Information

The anti-bovine alpha-tubulin antibody can be used with secondary detection techniques to visualize microtubules in fixed cells and in fixed or frozen tissue sections of various species. It can also detect tubulin by ELISA and immunoblot for screening expression libraries.
This antibody recognizes amino acids 65–97 of the N-terminal structural domain, serving as a probe for the N-terminal domain of alpha-tubulin.

It is highly specific and effective at lower concentrations compared to other suppliers. For immunocytochemistry, an initial concentration of 1 µg/mL or less is recommended.
Dissolve in PBS with 1% BSA and 2 mM sodium azide to obtain a stock concentration of 0.2 mg/mL.

Target Information

Alpha Tubulin forms a heterodimer with beta tubulin, each approximately 55 kDa, which serves as the building block of microtubules—filamentous structures essential for cellular transport and mitosis.
Microtubules are composed mainly of alpha and beta tubulin, while gamma tubulin is involved in microtubule nucleation.
Alpha and beta tubulin genes are highly conserved among species, and alpha tubulin gene expression is most prominent in differentiated neurologic cells.
